2023 Recap

88th Annual Golf Classic

Whirlpool Golf Course

In 2023 the 88th Annual Father and Three Sons Golf Classic was hosted by the Golfi family at Whirlpool GC in Niagara. This beautiful Stanley Thompson designed golf course was a spectacular venue for our event. The 30 families registered was the highest number of families we have had attend the event in over 10 years! With 6 new families the energy at the event was fantastic. Thank you to the Golfis for a great event

Event Summary

The Father & 3 Sons 2023 event was a resounding success, with 30 families participating in this year’s gathering. Despite the unpredictable weather, we were able to create a memorable experience for all involved. The event kicked off on Thursday at Niagara National Golf Club with a family scramble, and the Kerr family emerged as the winners. The day was marked by an extraordinary moment when Chance Rodin achieved a hole in one, potentially the first in the history of the event.

Friday’s tournament took place at Whirlpool Golf Course, where families gathered and demonstrated the genuine camaraderie that defines this unique event. Terry Windrem of Park Place Financial deserves thanks for their ongoing sponsorship/support and for hosting an exciting putting contest before tee-off. Devon Butler emerged as the winner of the TaylorMade putter in a thrilling playoff after dinner.

The day began with a ceremonial tee-off by Gino Luciani and Reid Bailey on hole #10, featuring the oldest and youngest participants in the event. This was followed by the traditional group photo on the 18th green, capturing the spirit of the occasion.

Despite the ever-changing weather, ranging from wind and rain to sunshine, all 18 holes were successfully played without delays, although the cart path-only rule made for a lot of walking.

At the end of the day, the Kerr family claimed the Low Gross trophy, while the Lancaster family emerged victorious in the Low Net category. Both competitions were closely contested, adding to the excitement of the event.

We thank everyone for allowing us the pleasure of hosting our very first event and are looking forward the opportunity to host again in the future. The 2023 Father & 3 Sons event will undoubtedly be remembered, thank you all for participating and making it an unforgettable experience. As we pass the torch to the Luciani family for next year’s hosting, we have no doubt that they will continue the tradition with the same passion and dedication. Thank you all for being a part of something truly special.
